Choosing a current representative record is not the same as merging names. Conflicting records remain separate when a unique identity cannot be established.
Names are search keys, not unique identifiers
Korean names are often shared, and spelling alone cannot distinguish records. PWRMAP uses stable source identifiers where available and compares organization, position and dates as context.
A person's job can change, so a different organization is not automatically a different person. Conversely, a similar job title does not prove a match.
Uncertainty should remain visible
When the available fields cannot establish a single identity, records are not merged merely to simplify a chart. This may create separate rows that require source review.
Readers should cite the original Korean name and publication context rather than adding an unverified romanization.
